WellTheory Launches Postpartum Program to Support Women Navigating Autoimmune Symptoms After Childbirth

New Program Helps Women in the Workforce Manage Postpartum Recovery and Autoimmune Symptoms

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WellTheory, the leading whole-person care platform for autoimmune disease, today announced the launch of its Postpartum Program, a new offering designed to support women navigating the hormonal shifts that often trigger or worsen autoimmune symptoms after giving birth.

Autoimmune disease affects more than 50 million people in the U.S., and 80 percent of patients are women. Hormonal changes are a major driver—pregnancy and childbirth are among the most significant hormonal shifts in a woman's life and are common triggers for new diagnoses or flare-ups. Yet postpartum support in traditional healthcare typically ends within weeks of delivery, even as hormonal changes continue for months and symptoms can worsen.

"We've seen this pattern repeatedly in our patient population—women who were managing their health before pregnancy suddenly experience new or worsening symptoms after giving birth," said Ellen Rudolph, CEO and Co-Founder of WellTheory. "When postpartum hormonal changes are treated as part of autoimmune care, women are better able to manage symptoms and return to feeling like themselves. This program puts structure around the care our teams have already been providing and ensures women have support during a period that's often overlooked."

WellTheory's Postpartum Program includes personalized care plans grounded in clinical research, ongoing one-on-one support from autoimmune and hormonal health experts, and advanced hormonal testing when appropriate, including assessment of sex hormones, cortisol levels, and their metabolites to help identify root causes of conditions like postpartum depression.

The program is built on WellTheory's proven care model. The company's recent outcomes report found that employees with autoimmune disease experienced fewer symptoms interfering with work and daily life after receiving WellTheory's whole-person support.

"My own wife went through this during the postpartum period, which made it clear how little support exists for women at this stage," said Wallace Torres, Co-Founder of WellTheory. "This program is rooted in what we've seen firsthand and what women have been asking for."

Women make up more than 70 percent of WellTheory's population, and the company has seen increasing demand from women navigating hormonal changes after childbirth. The Postpartum Program follows the launch of WellTheory's Hormonal Health Program, which supports women managing autoimmune disease alongside conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, and menopause.

The program addresses a growing employer priority: supporting women returning to work during the postpartum period, when traditional healthcare support has ended but hormonal and autoimmune symptoms often persist. WellTheory gives employers a way to provide continuous, whole-person care during this critical transition—helping women stay healthy and engaged in the workforce.
