Stellex Capital Management Appoints Two Executives to New Portfolio Talent Group

Middle market PE firm brings on Jason Henderson as Head of Portfolio Talent and Mariano Malvicino as Director of Portfolio Talent

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stellex Capital Management, a New York-based private equity firm with more than $5 billion in assets under management, announced the appointment of Jason Henderson as Head of Portfolio Talent and Mariano Malvicino as Director of Portfolio Talent to its newly-established Portfolio Talent Group (“PTG”). The PTG’s objective is to build and scale processes to support Stellex investment and portfolio company leadership teams on matters related to talent and organizational design.

“As Stellex investment partnerships continue to scale in both size and complexity, the need for a more structured and proactive approach to human capital has never been greater,” said Irina Krasik, Managing Director at Stellex. “Jason and Mariano will work to establish best practices around assessment, recruitment, retention and development of talent within Stellex portfolio companies and work in lockstep with our investment team from diligence through exit, supporting our ability to partner with executive teams on strategic and organizational priorities.”

As Head of Portfolio Talent, Mr. Henderson is expected to architect and scale Stellex’s human capital capabilities, aligning talent strategy and organizational design with portfolio company strategic plans. He will act as a trusted advisor to investment teams and portfolio executives, in addition to leading efforts to systematize human capital initiatives and embed best practices across the firm’s portfolio.

“I am excited to join Stellex to build a robust portfolio talent platform,” said Mr. Henderson. “Stellex’s operationally-focused approach is a core component of its investment philosophy. I believe the key to effective execution is portfolio talent. I look forward to partnering with investment and management teams to ensure the right leaders, operators, structures and capabilities are in place to support growth at Stellex portfolio companies.”

Mr. Malvicino will complement these human capital initiatives as Director of Portfolio Talent, strengthening Stellex’s approach to leadership assessment and executive search. He will work closely with investment teams and portfolio executives to identify, evaluate and develop leadership teams aligned with each company’s strategic goals, while helping to institutionalize rigorous and repeatable talent processes.

“Stellex is committed to supporting its portfolio companies, and I am proud to join a team that is focused on combining strategic insight with disciplined execution to support the companies it invests in,” said Mr. Malvicino. “Leadership drives performance, and we look forward to aligning management teams with high-quality operators and executives at every stage of the investment lifecycle.”

Prior to Stellex, Mr. Henderson was the Private Capital Consulting Practice Leader for Heidrick & Struggles and served as the Head of North American PE Consulting for YSC (Accenture) before that. He previously held multiple consulting and leadership roles at leadership development firm DDI and worked at GE and Johnson & Johnson in multiple talent, manufacturing, commercial, M&A and GM roles earlier in his career. Mr. Henderson received his B.S. in Business & Psychology from Southern Illinois University.

Mr. Malvicino was most recently Senior Director of Officer Talent Acquisition at Walmart. Prior to that, he held Partner positions with retained executive search firms Heidrick & Struggles and Korn Ferry International. Earlier in his career, Mr. Malvicino worked at Russell Reynolds Associates and McKinsey & Company. Mr. Malvicino received his B.S. in Engineering from Universidad Tecnologica Nacional, and his M.B.A. from Columbia University.
