Froehlich brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience, most recently serving as Chief Revenue Officer of the fundraising organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ALSAC. There he was responsible for all aspects of the Development team including mass marketing, events, corporate, major gifts and planned giving. His team quadrupled revenue from $700 million when he started to over $2.8 billion annually in fundraising. During his tenure, St. Jude became the largest single-cause operating charity for cash donations - with more than a half billion dollars raised each year through its digital channels. Prior to his time at ALSAC, he led fundraising teams at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) that drove monthly donor recruitment through iconic television commercials.

“Steve brings a rare combination of deep nonprofit experience and proven growth leadership at the highest levels of the industry,” said Tim Cadogan, CEO at GoFundMe. “He is widely trusted and respected across the nonprofit community, having led fundraising for organizations spanning animal welfare, health services, environmental protection, historic preservation, and domestic violence services. Through his work, and his service on multiple nonprofit fundraising boards, Steve has gained firsthand insight into the challenges nonprofits face. His leadership will help us deepen our partnerships with charitable organizations, accelerate their fundraising growth, and enable more support for people and organizations across the entire GoFundMe community.”

In his new role at GoFundMe, Froehlich will be responsible for overseeing customer success, sales, and growth for nonprofit customers. Working closely with product, technology, marketing and go-to-market leaders, he will focus on ensuring that individuals seeking help, nonprofits advancing their missions, and communities rallying in moments of need all receive seamless support, innovative fundraising strategies, and industry-leading outcomes.

“I’ve seen firsthand how critical it is for the nonprofit sector to grow the overall pie of philanthropic dollars, which is what makes joining the leadership team at GoFundMe so exciting,” said Froehlich. “GoFundMe’s ability to bring together millions of individual donors and fundraisers creates a powerful opportunity to expand support for countless worthy causes and the organizations behind them.”

Froehlich’s appointment builds on a milestone period of growth and innovation for GoFundMe. In 2025, the company was named to the TIME100 list of the world’s most influential companies and surpassed $40 billion raised for individuals and nonprofits globally. This year also marked the launch of GoFundMe Pro, the company’s best-in-class nonprofit software platform, along with new products like its new suite of AI-powered fundraising tools and Giving Funds, GoFundMe’s modern take on donor-advised funds, underscoring the company’s commitment to growing the charitable economy by launching new tools that make giving and receiving help easier, more accessible, and more impactful.
