JetBlue Announces Five New Routes from San Juan, Expanding Its Position as Puerto Rico’s Largest Airline

New nonstop service to Philadelphia, Jacksonville, Norfolk, Richmond and Buffalo launches in March 2026; flights on sale now

To celebrate the launch, limited time introductory fares available from $99 one-way

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU), Puerto Rico’s largest airline, today announced a major expansion of its San Juan (SJU) focus city with the launch of five new nonstop routes to Philadelphia (PHL); Jacksonville Florida (JAX); Norfolk, Virginia (ORF); Richmond, Virginia (RIC); and Buffalo, New York (BUF). Beginning in spring 2026, the airline will operate year-round service to all five markets, reinforcing JetBlue’s longstanding investment in Puerto Rico and deepening its 23-year commitment to the island.

With these new routes available for purchase now, JetBlue is offering fares as low as $99 one-way available on jetblue.com.¹

“Puerto Rico has shaped JetBlue’s identity for more than two decades,” said Marty St. George, JetBlue’s president. “Our newest routes only deepen our commitment to the island and the communities that have been part of JetBlue’s story since 2002. We’re proud to continue investing in Puerto Rico and creating more travel opportunities for customers across our growing network.”

“The announcement of these five new routes is clear proof of this administration’s commitment to strengthening air connectivity and solidifying Puerto Rico’s position as a leading destination in the Caribbean,” said Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González-Colón. “The expansion of these routes opens the door for more travelers from the United States to discover the richness and charm of our Island, while providing Puerto Ricans with more options to visit, reconnect with their loved ones, and contribute to our local economy. We will continue driving initiatives that broaden our opportunities for development and that keep elevating Puerto Rico in the eyes of the world.”

JetBlue operates more seats and serves more destinations between Puerto Rico and the mainland U.S. than any other airline, making it the largest carrier on the island with service from San Juan, Aguadilla, and Ponce. With this announcement, JetBlue will operate flights to 22 nonstop destinations from San Juan, more than any other airline, and will average more than 40 daily departures next spring.

The new routes follow a period of robust growth for JetBlue in Puerto Rico, including a recent increase in service between San Juan and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). JetBlue now operates six daily flights during peak periods on this popular route to meet growing demand for travel between South Florida and Puerto Rico.

A Continued Commitment to Puerto Rico’s Communities

Since launching service to San Juan in 2002, JetBlue has been connected to Puerto Rico’s cultural, economic, and community landscape. The airline’s low fares and great customer service have made it the preferred carrier on the island. With nearly 800 crewmembers living and working across the island, a growing pilot and inflight crew base, a robust maintenance operation, and longstanding collaborations with local organizations, JetBlue’s presence extends far beyond air travel.

Coinciding with today’s announcement, JetBlue and the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) have renewed their longstanding partnership through a new Cooperative Marketing Agreement aimed at strengthening air access and increasing demand for travel to Puerto Rico. The agreement, backed by PRTC marketing funds, will support promotional efforts for JetBlue’s expanding service across the island, including routes connecting San Juan, Ponce and Aguadilla with major East Coast and Florida cities. The joint campaign will leverage targeted digital media, email marketing, and destination branding integrations to drive demand and enhance competitiveness in key markets. This renewed commitment reflects both parties’ shared goal of boosting tourism growth while ensuring long-term route sustainability.

“The investment associated with this cooperative agreement with JetBlue is a strategic action to expand our reach into high-potential markets and strengthen the performance of key routes for Puerto Rico,” said Willianette Robles Cancel, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. “This investment supports the reinforcement of existing routes while also paving the way for the development of new connections, including the five routes announced today, which bring the total number of nonstop routes with JetBlue to 22. Through this joint effort, we achieve stronger connectivity, sustainable growth, and an increasingly competitive position for Puerto Rico as a premier destination.”

JetBlue remains committed to Puerto Rico’s future, partnering with local organizations, uplifting Puerto Rican artists through its special livery and supporting youth-focused nonprofits, including recent collaborations with the Ricky Martin Foundation. JetBlue’s efforts reflect a continued dedication to celebrating and investing in the island’s people and communities.
