Seward & Kissel Adds Registered Funds Lawyer Linda Kim to Investment Management Group

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Seward & Kissel LLP announced today that Linda Kim has joined the firm’s Investment Management Group as counsel in the Registered Funds and Regulatory practice.

A veteran registered funds lawyer, Kim comes to Seward & Kissel from global investment adviser AllianceBernstein L.P., where she served as vice president and counsel. In that role, she amassed extensive experience providing in-house legal counsel under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Her responsibilities included collaborating on the launches and liquidations of investment funds and steering the firm through changes in regulatory requirements.

“With Linda joining the firm, our Investment Management Group adds vast regulatory knowledge and experience to the team,” said Paul Miller, head of Seward & Kissel’s Registered Funds and Regulatory practice. “Her hands-on work as a former in-house counsel gives her a practical perspective that our clients will value.”

Before arriving at AllianceBernstein in 2023, Kim served as counsel at Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC in New Jersey. She handled legal issues arising from the firm’s fund management while also advising on product initiatives including the development of new funds and investment strategies. Additionally, Kim oversaw the registration and operation of the firm’s investment funds, which required preparing registration statements, shareholder reports, and proxy statements.

“I’m eager to become a part of the Investment Management Group at Seward & Kissel,” Kim said. “I’m looking forward to practicing alongside an elite group of colleagues who embrace the complexities of working with investment funds.”

As an associate at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP from 2007-15, Kim represented registered investment funds, their advisers, and their boards of directors. Her work included preparing responses to inquiries and investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations.

Kim received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law. She graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in English and American Literature.
