Since joining GoFundMe in 2020, Tim has cemented the company as the global leader in modern giving. Last year, GoFundMe surpassed more than $30 billion raised for individuals and organizations – more than $20 billion of which has been raised since he became CEO. Tim joined GoFundMe as the pandemic started in March 2020 and led the company’s response to the global crisis. Tim has spearheaded GoFundMe’s innovative approach to fundraising with the launch of new AI tools that make asking for – and giving – help easier, more personal, and more effective. In 2022, Tim led the acquisition of Classy, a fundraising software business that empowers thousands of nonprofit organizations to raise more funds and drive positive change globally. In 2024, he led the company’s expansion into Latin America, making the power of GoFundMe available to more than one billion people worldwide.

“People want to help each other – it’s that simple. But it has not always been as easy and accessible as it should be,” said Tim Cadogan, GoFundMe CEO. “GoFundMe exists to change that. Being recognized by TIME is a tribute to the millions who already use GoFundMe to support people and nonprofits they care about - and a powerful reminder that helping each other is a deeply human instinct we share. We’ve made progress but there is so much more to do. Many hundreds of millions more people could benefit from our services and we are committed to enabling them to do so. It is my – and our entire team’s – honor to do this work.”

GoFundMe has helped support communities through more than 100 global crises since Tim became CEO. Most recently, he led the company’s response to the Los Angeles wildfires while he and his family were directly impacted and displaced themselves, helping facilitate more than $250 million in donations to over 10,000 families, dozens of schools, churches, and local businesses and many of the nonprofits responding on the ground. Tim’s leadership reflects a broader vision for the future of help – one where empathy, technology, and community intersect to create real, measurable impact.

TIME’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential People spotlights leaders, creators, advocates, and changemakers whose ideas and actions shape the world.
