Exelon’s Local Energy Companies Recognized as “Customer Champions” in National Study

Four Exelon companies have earned placement among utilities named to Escalent’s 2024 Customer Champion survey.

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Exelon’s local utility companies BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power and Pepco were named 2024 Customer Champions by Escalent, a leading research, data analytics and advisory firm specializing in human and market behavior.

The study evaluates utility companies’ ability to deliver effective customer programs with clear communications about improvements – all while building and engaging in customer relationships. Customer Champions are distinguished amongst their industry peers in measured attributes that ensure customer awareness in areas ranging from customer service to energy savings.

The web-based survey conducted by Escalent included more than 59,300 residential electric, natural gas and combination utility customers of the 142 largest utility companies from around the country.

“We are extremely proud to see local communities and businesses recognizing our energy commitments, further demonstrating that Exelon is working to meet and exceed their needs and expectations,” said Mike Innocenzo, executive vice president and COO at Exelon. “Our customers and partners across our service areas recognize the value of the energy we provide and their engagement with us as we work to upgrade the grid and make meaningful investments in the communities we’re privileged to serve.”

Examples of Exelon’s local programs that benefit customers while building trust and engagement are wide ranging across our footprint. In Baltimore, BGE’s Green Grants program, now in its 11th year, has benefited hundreds of innovative community and environmental stewardship projects with more than $2.2 million provided by BGE in charitable giving. In the northern Illinois area, ComEd’s work with its Powering Safe Communities program, now in its 10th year, has awarded more than 200 grants totaling nearly $2 million to support community-drive safety and clean energy initiatives. In Delaware and Maryland, Delmarva Power’s Sustainable Community Grants have provided more than $235,000 in funding for open space and resiliency efforts. While in Washington, D.C., Pepco’s Energizing Small Business Grant Program will invest nearly $1 million to support efforts for fresh food related small businesses, while also enhancing support for local schools and nonprofit organizations.

This recognition from Escalent comes at the same time as Delmarva Power ranking highest in residential customer satisfaction in the East Midsize Region for the third consecutive year by J.D. Power.
