Renowned Physician, Psychiatrist, and Leader in Eating Disorder Treatment will Help Advance Clinical Excellence and Ensure Quality of Care

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Accanto Health, a national leader in eating disorder specialty care and behavioral health services encompassing The Emily Program and Gather Behavioral Health, today welcomed Dr. Brad E. R. Smith, M.D., DFAPA, as its new Chief Medical Officer.

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Smith will lead Accanto’s medical teams and drive excellence in patient outcomes as the organization expands its reach to support more people struggling with eating disorders.

Dr. Smith joins from Rogers Behavioral Health where, as Chief Medical Officer, his leadership had a profound impact on the organization, advancing clinical programming and patient outcomes across multiple care settings. In this role he was responsible for the care of 1,600 patients daily and managed a multidisciplinary team of over 130 providers. During his 13 years with the organization, Smith also served as Medical Director of Eating Disorder Services at Rogers Memorial Hospital, leading initiatives that significantly improved care and expanded access to more patients.

Dr. Smith’s clinical expertise spans inpatient, outpatient, and residential care settings. He earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and is board-certified in both adult and forensic psychiatry. Smith served as chief resident during his psychiatry residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics and completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

Beyond his leadership roles, Dr. Smith serves as an adjunct assistant clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he teaches and mentors residents and fellows. He is a sought-after speaker at national conferences, presenting at events such as the National Eating Disorders Association and Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association annual meetings.
