Big Bend Hospice Opens New Community-Built Field Office in Jefferson County

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Big Bend Hospice has opened a new field office in Jefferson County, located in the heart of Monticello’s historic district, replacing its previous location at 187 Walnut St.

The new office, made possible by the Big Bend Hospice Jefferson County Advisory Council and the community’s dedicated fundraising efforts, will serve as the hub for Big Bend Hospice’s clinical staff and volunteers, who provide in-home patient care throughout Jefferson County. Built entirely through local donations over the past nine years, the project is a testament to the strength and commitment of the community.

“This field office reflects the deep support Jefferson County has for hospice care,” said Michael Eurich, senior director of strategy, policy, and innovation at Big Bend Hospice. “It’s a homegrown effort that not only highlights our commitment to compassionate care but also underscores how much the community values these essential services.”

With a field office in each of the eight counties it serves—Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla—Big Bend Hospice is committed to ensuring accessible care across the entire Big Bend region.

The new Jefferson County field office features a wraparound porch and meeting spaces for community events and bereaved families of Big Bend Hospice patients.

The opening of this field office builds on Big Bend Hospice’s mission to expand access to compassionate care, following the recent opening of the First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. The center is the region’s only owned and operated inpatient hospice unit, providing essential care to patients across the Big Bend region.

“Our mission is to inspire hope by positively impacting the way our community experiences serious illness or grief—one family at a time,” said Bill Wertman, CEO of Big Bend Hospice and Seven Oaks Health “We are honored to continue serving the Jefferson County community with the same dedication and excellence that have defined our services for more than 40 years.”

There will be an open house and ribbon cutting at the new field office on Thursday, November 14th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
