World Chess Hall of Fame to Premiere New Exhibition: “Crown Jewels: Donation Highlights”

Curated exhibition to showcase chess pieces provided by 50 donors, including many never-before-exhibited artifacts

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF), the leading chess cultural center in the country, is proud to present “Crown Jewels: Donation Highlights,” a captivating new exhibition that will be on view from October 4, 2024, to April 13, 2025. Curated by WCHOF’s Registrar Nicole Tessmer, this remarkable showcase features 75 exquisite chess sets, artworks, memorabilia, and more.

Each piece has been generously donated by 50 esteemed benefactors, such as Chess Collectors International Members Frank Camaratta, Jon Crumiller, Dr. George and Vivian Dean, and the late Bernice and Floyd Sarisohn.

Among the treasured items on display are intricate pieces such as a Hungarian Silver and Copper Enamel chess set and board, a bespoke chess set created for the Shah of Iran, and an artist’s proof “Conqueror” chess set by Peter Ganine. Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to see several hand-carved ivory chess sets from India and China dating back to the 1800s, along with many never-before-exhibited artifacts.

• Artifacts Related to Hall of Fame Inductees, Including Walter Browne, Donald Byrne, Jack Collins, Garry Kasparov, Lubomir Kavalek, Isaac Kashdan, Viktor Korchnoi, Emanuel Lasker, and Jacqueline Piatigorsky
• Signed Books and Tournament Memorabilia

In addition to the stunning displays, the exhibition will offer interactive elements, including a chess-playing area and touchscreens where guests can browse the U.S. and World Chess Hall of Fame Inductees.
