Kinterra Capital Launches Minéraux Stratégiques Abitibi to Support Nickel Projects that will Advance the Energy Transition

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kinterra Capital Corp., the investment advisor to Kinterra Battery Metals Mining Fund, a private equity firm that invests in and develops key critical minerals assets and strategic infrastructure necessary for the energy transition is pleased to announce the launch of the Kinterra Fund’s new portfolio company, Minéraux Stratégiques Abitibi Inc. (“MSA”).

Last week, MSA acquired an industrial complex in the city of Amos, Quebec. With its considerable warehousing capacity as well as its direct road and rail access, this facility will allow MSA to establish a regional service hub for energy transition projects, including Nion Nickel’s Dumont Project and NiVolt Technologies’ hydrometallurgical processing facility.

“MSA’s creation and recent acquisition are significant steps in the development of a sustainable regional economy and in the continued deployment of Quebec’s battery industry,” said Cheryl Brandon, Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Kinterra. “The industrial site will play a key supporting role by providing needed infrastructure and services in Amos.”

“MSA is committed to supporting the successful advancement of an innovative battery metals industry in Quebec,” said François Vézina, President of MSA. “By working with our local and regional partners, we are confident that we can make important economic and social contributions to the Amos region and the province.”

“The synergies between our subsidiaries position them as key economic players in the region and will help ensure the sustainability of the various initiatives that together promote a sustainable energy transition,” added Cheryl Brandon. “We are very excited about the future of these businesses and their potential impact on the battery sector in Quebec and across Canada.”
