Macquarie Capital expands Software and Services coverage and advisory with senior appointments

  • New additions in cybersecurity and property technology support growing M&A activity in these sectors
  • The expansion of coverage in the Americas complements Macquarie Capital’s activity as an advisor and investor globally

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investing arm of Macquarie Group, today announced it has appointed Matt Fiore and Jason White as Managing Directors in its Software and Services practice in the Americas, deepening and expanding advisory coverage in key technology sectors. Mr. Fiore will lead Cybersecurity coverage; Mr. White is joining to lead Macquarie Capital’s newly created Mortgage Technology (MortgageTech) coverage, supporting the existing Property Technology (PropTech) team.

Mr. Fiore brings 23 years of experience, most recently as a Managing Director at DC Advisory where he was responsible for the firm’s Cybersecurity practice. Over the course of his career, he has helped complete more than 50 M&A and capital-raising transactions. Prior to joining DC Advisory, Mr. Fiore was a Managing Director at Signal Hill Capital, a predecessor firm in the US to DC Advisory, and before that he was a Vice President at Updata Advisors. He began his career at Warburg Pincus-backed Clondalkin Group.

Mr. White brings more than 24 years’ experience to Macquarie Capital. In the last decade, he has sourced and closed more than 30 M&A transactions in the MortgageTech, PropTech, and Data and Analytics sectors. His most recent role was Managing Director and Co-Head of MortgageTech and PropTech at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, a Stifel Company. Previously, he was at Berkery, Noyes & Co. overseeing M&A for these sectors. Over the course of his career, Mr. White has worked on over $US17 billion in completed transactions, including M&A, public offerings, restructurings and private placements; he was also a recipient of The M&A Advisor’s “Emerging Leader” 40 Under 40 award.

Mr. Fiore and Mr. White will report to Sam Shah, Co-Head of Macquarie Capital in the Americas and Global Head of Software and Services. “We expect to see significant M&A and capital-raising activity in these verticals as cyber risk escalates and technology, including artificial intelligence, continues to fundamentally transform business interactions,” said Mr. Shah. “We’re excited to welcome Jason and Matt, who bring extensive experience working with sponsors and corporates in these key sectors.”

In addition to Cybersecurity and PropTech, Macquarie Capital’s Software and Services team also advises companies specializing in technology for education, human capital management, manufacturing and supply chain management, governance, risk and compliance, customer interaction management, information services and other sectors. The expansion of coverage in the Americas complements Macquarie Capital’s global activity as an advisor and investor in these sectors.

“Macquarie Capital has significant institutional expertise providing balance sheet capital as well as M&A advisory services to cybersecurity companies, allowing us to represent companies with game-changing technology in the space and transact larger, transformative deals,” said Mr. Fiore. “I’m excited to find areas of intersection with the broader Software and Services team, in adjacent sectors such as education, supply chain, and governance, risk and compliance software.”

Mr. White commented: “The real estate and mortgage lending industries are still in the early innings of digitalization across multiple facets of the business, from loan origination and loan servicing to capital markets and risk mitigation. This presents immense opportunity for both consolidation and capital-raising. What’s exciting for me about joining Macquarie Capital is that we can lead with advisory and also offer clients creative debt and equity solutions from our balance sheet, up and down the capital structure – becoming true partners to both sponsors and corporates.”
