Medina Raptor Center Hosts Second Annual Baby Bird Shower to Raise Funds, Awareness for Bird Conservation Efforts

Event will include family-friendly activities and over a dozen Educational Ambassador Birds, including turkey vultures, hawks, owls and falcons

SPENCER, Ohio--()--For over 30 years, the Medina Raptor Center has been a regional leader in rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing sick or injured raptors and native songbirds throughout Ohio and surrounding states. Everything from majestic bald eagles to delicate ruby-throated hummingbirds have received the care and attention of the Center and its many volunteers and supporters. It is one of the few rehabilitation centers that can take in bald eagles.

On Saturday, May 4, from noon to 5:00 p.m., the Medina Raptor Center will host its Second Annual Baby Bird Shower at the Chatham Memorial Hall, located at 6299 Avon Lake Road, in Spencer, Ohio. This is Medina Raptor Center’s largest fundraiser of the year, created to bring awareness to the perils of baby bird season and raise funds to help the baby birds. During this season, birds are more active, and the Center experiences an unusually high intake of babies who’ve fallen from nests, injured learning to fly, abandoned or separated from their nest.

The Baby Bird Shower is free and open to the public. Last year, over 400 people attended; a dozen of the Center’s Educational Ambassador birds (rehabilitated birds that can’t be released) made an appearance, including turkey vultures, hawks, owls and falcons. There will be family-friendly activities, a chance to meet the Educational Ambassadors, a raffle with 100 plus donated items, a bake sale, refreshments, educational opportunities, and more!

All proceeds go back to the Medina Raptor Center to help the birds and empower the organization’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate and release displaced, injured, sick or orphaned birds.
