CFRA announces key leadership changes to drive next-level growth; elevates Theresa Torian to CEO

Torian elevated to CEO; Patricia Wilson to become Chief Solutions Officer; Alan Elworthy to become Chief Revenue Officer; Peter de Boer to become Executive Chairman.

NEW YORK--()--CFRA, one of the world’s leading providers of independent investment research, today announced several changes to its leadership team to bolster its client-first strategy, enhance leadership depth, and drive next-level growth.

Today’s organizational changes, highlighted by Theresa Torian’s appointment to CEO, will do just that,” said Peter de Boer, Executive Chairman. “Theresa is an exceptional leader to whom I attribute much of CFRA’s success, and I am excited to continue to work with her and her team to capture opportunities in our dynamic markets and capitalize on our award-winning research, data, and technology solutions.”

Torian moves from her current role as President & COO to CEO where her focus will shift from day-to-day operations to oversight of the firm's global strategic initiatives and leadership. The operational components of her prior role will be split between Patricia Wilson and Alan Elworthy.

Wilson moves from her current role as Global Head of Research to Chief Solutions Officer where her responsibilities will expand beyond global research to include key client delivery areas such as product management, technology, data, and program management. She will now oversee a fully integrated solutions team that will allow for streamlined development and delivery of CFRA’s world-class research, data, and technology to our global clients.

Elworthy moves from his current role as Global Head of Sales to Chief Revenue Officer where his expanded role will include global marketing and communication functions in addition to global sales and account management, further aligning sales and marketing efforts across all global markets.

de Boer moves from his current role as CEO into the role of Executive Chairman where he will focus on longer-term strategic initiatives driving future value and strategic outcomes for the firm.

About Theresa Torian, CEO
Torian joined CFRA in 2016 and has served as the President & COO of CFRA since 2021 where she oversaw the firm’s entire global operations. Before assuming her role as President & COO, Torian served as CFO & COO. Before joining CFRA, Torian was the Senior Director of Finance, Corporate Controller for SNL Financial (now part of S&P Global) where she helped the business to scale to $250 million in revenues and over 3,000 employees. Before SNL Financial, she was Director of Business Management with LexisNexis and a Consulting Manager with Grant Thornton LLP. Torian graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Mathematics and holds an MBA from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business, William & Mary.

About Patricia Wilson, Chief Solutions Officer
Wilson joined CFRA in 2023 as Global Head of Research, where she oversaw CFRA’s global team of fundamental, forensic accounting, public policy, and technical research analysts. She began her career in asset management, holding a number of senior roles, including Head of Research for US Equities with Scottish Widows and Global Investment Manager with Longview Partners. Having accumulated more than 15 years of in-depth buy-side research experience, Wilson joined Bloomberg where, as part of the original management team she built a team of 400 analysts, established Bloomberg Intelligence as a global brand, and consistently introduced new ways to leverage data science and alternative data insights to drive innovations in information sharing, delivery, and analysis. Before leaving Bloomberg for a senior role with Kroll, she was Research Director for Data and Analytics. Wilson holds an MBA from Strathclyde University.

About Alan Elworthy, Chief Revenue Officer
Elworthy joined CFRA in 2024 as the Global Head of Sales where he oversaw all sales and account management efforts for the firm. He is a transformational sales executive with a distinguished career building customer-centric sales organizations and driving revenue growth. Before joining CFRA, Elworthy served as the Head of Sales, Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) at S&P Global Market Intelligence where his teams exceeded revenue and sales targets every year during his tenure. Before that, Elworthy served as Chief Revenue Officer, at 451 Research, for 12 years which was acquired by S&P, where he built a world-class sales organization that achieved double-digit revenue growth every year for over a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Worcester State University.

About Peter de Boer, Executive Chairman
de Boer acquired CFRA in 2013 and has overseen the firm’s global strategic leadership since that time. Previously he was Executive Managing Director at S&P Global. Before this role, de Boer was Executive Director at Morgan Stanley and Vice President at JPMorgan. de Boer graduated from Union College with a BA in Economics and holds an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
