ANNAPOLIS, Md.--()--Netography®, the security company for the Atomized Network, today welcomed David Meltzer as its first chief product officer (CPO). This leadership addition comes as the company heads into its next fiscal year after having tripled its annual recurring revenue (ARR) and its employee count last year. The company also doubled its customer base, which spans leading organizations and Fortune 1000 enterprises in the financial, technology, utilities, food and beverage, electronics, aviation, and freight and logistics sectors.

“Netography continues to experience unprecedented customer adoption of the industry’s first Atomized Visibility and Control Platform,” said Martin Roesch, CEO of Netography. “The CPO role is an important one for us at a critical time of growth. Dave will lead us as we continue to build on our vision of securing the Atomized Network and increase our innovation to match and anticipate the needs of our growing customer base. His strong product leadership and customer-first mentality makes him a perfect fit for our team.”

Meltzer brings more than 25 years building, launching, and growing enterprise security product portfolios that help organizations solve critical security challenges. In his new role, he brings together the threat research, engineering, and product management teams into one organization to support an aligned and focused product implementation and competitive strategy for the Netography Fusion® platform.

“It was important for me to find a company with smart, passionate people and an aligned mission and vision to change the future of security, all backed by proven technology,” said Meltzer. “Large organizations face an evolving threat landscape coupled with a diversifying network attack surface that is also rapidly changing. Netography is uniquely poised to help these organizations navigate these challenges with a completely new approach to securing their Atomized Networks. I am thrilled to join the team at this exciting time.”

Prior to Netography, Meltzer spent nearly a decade at Tripwire, most recently as its chief technology officer (CTO). In that role, he was responsible for technology innovation, product management, and strategy for a 350-person global research and development team. During his tenure, he also transformed a $100-million solution portfolio used by more than 50% of the Fortune 500.

He has also held CTO positions at nCircle Network Security and Cambia Security. Earlier in his career, Meltzer was a software engineer and security researcher at Internet Security Systems (ISS), where he led the development of its market-leading network intrusion detection system (IDS) and founded the ISS X-Force, now known as the IBM Security X-Force following IBM’s acquisition of ISS.

Customer adoption driven by product momentum and new features

In addition to significant business and customer gains over the past year, Netography rolled out new capabilities to its Netography Fusion platform, which provides enterprises with full visibility and control across the Atomized Network – legacy, on-premises, hybrid, multi-cloud, and edge environments. Enhancements include:

  • Network visibility and operational governance for social media. As organizations crack down on – or outright ban – social media platforms such as TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tinder, and others, analysts can now quickly validate and enforce policy changes and verify that users are compliant and that controls are working properly.
  • Context labels and tagging. Tags and labeling are a critical component for ensuring visibility, automation, and operational governance for the applications and infrastructure that an organization relies on. Security and cloud teams can now visualize and analyze networks by application, location, compliance groups, or any other scheme. The UX/UI provides analysts with a flexible and optimized workflow to pivot and analyze massive amounts of data quickly.
  • New Netography Detection Models (NDMs). Created by the Netography Threat Research Team on a regular basis and continuously refined as threats evolve, NDMs detect botnets, malware, P2P, data exfiltration, ransomware, phishing, SPAM, DDoS activity, and more. These powerful threat and network configuration detection models do not require packages to download and have no updates to push. All NDMs are completely open, customizable, and transparent to security teams.

The company also announced a technology integration partnership with leading endpoint detection and response (EDR) vendor CrowdStrike. Netography’s context integrations with CrowdStrike Falcon Protect and CrowdStrike Falcon Discover give security teams endpoint-level visibility for network traffic with labels that include device manufacturer, OS, name, external IP, etc. Netography Fusion also includes the capability to quarantine endpoints that are protected by CrowdStrike Falcon.

The Netography Fusion platform has received many industry accolades, the most recent being the 2023 Cybersecurity Excellence Gold Awards in both the Network Security and Hybrid Cloud Security categories announced just this week.

“Growth across all areas of the business over the past year has been extraordinary and we are not slowing down; we are accelerating,” said Roesch. “We will continue to drive momentum around the importance of securing the Atomized Network, remaining laser-focused on ensuring that Netography Fusion is built to address how the network is today – more dispersed, ephemeral, encrypted, and diverse – not for how it used to be.”
