Sica | Fletcher Maintains #1 Spot as Leading Insurance M&A Advisor for 6th Consecutive Year

Annual Broker Buyer Index and 2022 YTD Market Report Released

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sica | Fletcher (SF) finishes the year as the #1 insurance M&A advisor and releases the 2022 Annual Agency & Broker Buyer Index, which details a 30% increase in acquisitions in the 2nd half of 2022.

The Sica | Fletcher Agency & Broker Buyer Index is the most comprehensive report on insurance brokerage M&A activity in the industry. It uses data provided directly from 21 of the industry’s most prolific agent and broker acquirers to track deal activity. These 21 agent and broker acquirers accounted for 74% of all deal activity in 2022: 704 of a total of 951 announced transactions.

According to the report, SF Index members acquired $2.4 billion in revenue in 2022, with many meeting or exceeding their 2021 acquisition rates. Acrisure led the group with 116 deals, followed closely by PCF Insurance, Hub International, and High Street Insurance Partners.

“Although deal volume is slightly down from 2021, it's encouraging to see the 2nd half of 2022’s M&A activity increase from the previous half, given interest rates and inflation are as high as they are,” says Managing Partner Mike Fletcher.

The report, which is published quarterly, reflects the continued dominance of private equity-backed firms in insurance brokerage M&A. About 92% of SF Index transactions were executed by private equity-backed firms in 2022, a trend that has increased year-over-year since 2017.
