DreamBox Learning® Appoints Candice Faktor to Board of Directors

Accomplished tech entrepreneur to advise company strategy as DreamBox becomes go-to dual-discipline solution for district leaders to accelerate student learning

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DreamBox Learning, Inc. (“DreamBox”), the leading dual-discipline education technology provider and pioneer of intelligent adaptive learning, today announced Candice Faktor, technology strategist and learning innovation pioneer, is joining its board of directors. With extensive experience building fast-growing digital platforms and SaaS companies as a founder, entrepreneur, and investor, Faktor will help DreamBox scale its highly efficacious reading and mathematics solutions, robust data and analytics, and job-embedded professional development programming to more school districts nationwide. Supporting nearly 6 million students and 400,000 educators, DreamBox is the only provider of solutions rated “Strong” by Johns Hopkins’ EvidenceforESSA.org in both mathematics and reading.

Faktor is a serial technology entrepreneur with a passion for learning and community. She is the co-CEO and co-founder of Disco, the venture backed all-in-one learning community platform. Prior to launching Disco, Faktor helped scale Wattpad to over 80 million users before it was acquired by Naver for $660 million. She’s also a venture partner at Lobby Capital and a frequent speaker on the future of learning, innovation, and thriving in uncertainty.

“As we accelerate growth, we are empowering district leaders to inspire and engage more students and teachers with technology that works,” said Jessie Woolley-Wilson, CEO and President of DreamBox Learning. “We are thrilled to welcome Candice as her experience scaling impact-driven technology companies as well as her passion for unlocking learning potential for every student will make her an invaluable addition to the board. I’m also delighted to welcome another distinguished woman to our leadership team.”

Faktor joins DreamBox as the company partners with district leaders to help identify where students are in their learning and deploy strategies to accelerate student learning without adding any additional burden on teachers. For example, Pinellas County Schools in Florida found that students who completed an average of five or more DreamBox Math lessons per week for eight weeks increased more than five national achievement percentile points compared to students with low DreamBox usage. Additionally, students in grades 3-8 in Catoosa County School District in Georgia who used DreamBox Reading (formerly Reading Plus) averaged 2.2 reading level gains.

“I am blown away by the mission-driven platform and the exceptional team at DreamBox. I am excited to see such powerful AI technology being put to such good use. Helping students learn post-pandemic is a huge problem that DreamBox is excelling at helping school districts solve,” said Faktor. “I look forward to working with my fellow esteemed board members as DreamBox enters this new phase of growth and radically changes the way the world learns."
