Condition One Media Debuts “Figure It Out,” a Comedic Pilot About a Former Marine’s Re-Entry Into Civilian Life
The New Series Infuses Humor with the Real-Life Experiences of a Former Marine to Shed Light on the Realities and Challenges of Reintegration for Veterans
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Condition One Media, a veteran owned full-service production company, debuted its new comedy pilot, “Figure It Out,” which follows a recently discharged Marine’s re-entry into civilian life, during an exclusive event at Warner Bros. Studio on Saturday, July 23.
The premier was a huge success and garnered a mix of high-profile attendees from Warner Bros., 4 Ways Entertainment and Sunside Studios as well as key members from military-focused organizations like Merging Vets and Players, We Are The Mighty, The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and more. The night kicked off with comedian Maxi Witrak taking the stage ahead of the highly anticipated airing of the pilot episode. Following the viewing, the show’s lineup of up-and-coming young stars, Natalie Galdamez, Joe Dioletto, Daniel Mills, Alexandra Bokova and Cate Farrow, assembled for an informal Q&A with attendees. The evening wrapped with an intimate meet and greet with the director, producers and cast of the show.
The show’s storyline brings comedic effect to the largely underrepresented reintegration issues that military personnel face when they leave the service while also offering relevant scenarios for all viewers about figuring things out during the difficult and formative years of young adult life. The show’s intricate mix of humor, relatability and authenticity in its portrayal of a discharged Marine that finds herself living with three eccentric roommates, two of whom are everyday citizens, as she settles into the foreign life of a civilian is as high in entertainment value as it is eye-opening.
“Figure It Out” is the brainchild of honorably discharged hospital corpsman and Condition One Media founder and creative director, Tim Kirkpatrick. It all started back in 2016, when Kirkpatrick was working at a veteran readjustment center where he met the co-producers of the show, former U.S. Marines Bryant Tamayo and Daniel Mills. Their job was to assist retired servicemen and women with the ongoing struggles of reintegrating into the civilian population, something they had all experienced on a personal level and eventually Condition One Media was born. Kirkpatrick started writing the script for “Figure It Out” in 2019. Since then, the three producers worked tirelessly to create a truly unique series depicting the real-life experiences they felt and witnessed after leaving the military.
Veterans often experience a variety of stress-related disorders and challenges when reintegrating into a civilian community. Despite the lack of social awareness or media attention around this issue, re-entry into the private sector is a significant challenge that vets and their families deal with every day. Because of this, Kirkpatrick, Tamayo and Mills felt a strong need to develop something for the masses that provided an enlightening yet humorous depiction of these hardships by using their own personal experiences mixed with storylines about major life transitions that everyone can relate to.
“Creating this show has been a true passion project. It has allowed me the unique opportunity to share some of my own life experiences and challenges after leaving the military. Additionally, we wanted to establish content that would bring awareness around struggles that servicemen and women often face when returning to civilian life while also representing veterans in the media,” said Kirkpatrick. “The show is real, relatable, funny and a little quirky. Our team is both honored and excited to bring this compelling and important narrative to television.”
