LOS ALTOS, Calif.--()--Summit Strategy Group, LLC, (Summit), a national corporate reputation, public affairs and ESG consulting firm, today announced the formation of its Healthcare Practice. Headquartered in Dallas, the practice will serve hospital and health system leaders grappling with unprecedented scrutiny and transparency demands and help them better engage with the stakeholders that matter most.

The practice will provide a range of services including stakeholder research, strategic narrative development, issue advocacy and risk management/rapid response to emerging issues. The practice will also advise health systems on the shifting risks and opportunities linked to Environment Social & Governance (ESG) performance requirements.

The new practice will be led by veteran public affairs and healthcare specialist Mark Riordan, who is joining Summit after more than seven years serving Texas Health Resources, one of the largest health systems in Texas. Riordan will bolster the firm’s existing healthcare experience and capabilities in areas including payor-provider relations, the Affordable Care Act and crisis management.

“Hospital systems are under constant pressure from government entities, changing consumer demands and a dynamic competitive landscape,” said Summit Founder & CEO Michael Law. “I am thrilled that Mark is taking the helm of this new practice.”

Riordan joins Summit with more than 30 years professional experience at the intersection of government, media, healthcare and advocacy. Riordan began his career in Florida politics working with Senator Bob Graham (D-Fla), and later spent many years working in state and federal government health agencies, including the Florida Department of Children & Families and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Riordan and Law worked together for several years at Burson-Marsteller.

“Healthcare industry leaders are looking for partners to help them navigate the uncertainty and risk inherent in today’s business landscape,” said Riordan. “Negotiations with payers and providers, addressing calls for greater pricing transparency, and the emergence of ESG in the health sector are among many of the issues to be addressed. Michael has built this team for this purpose, and I am thrilled to join Summit and work with him again.”
