Cohen Children’s Medical Center Ranks No. 1 on Long Island

New York State’s largest pediatric trauma center given high marks by US News & World Report

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cohen Children’s Medical Center has been rated the No. 1 children’s hospital on Long Island – and recognized as second in New York State, sixth in the mid-Atlantic region – while earning top 40 national rankings for exceptional care in nine pediatric specialties, according to US News & World Report’s 2022-2023 Best Children’s Hospitals.

US News has ranked Cohen Children’s among the nation’s top pediatric hospitals for the 16th consecutive year. The Northwell Health children’s hospital, the largest provider of pediatric health services in the state, also serves as New York’s largest Level 1 pediatric trauma center and a primary destination for emergency care.

Cohen Children’s achieved top 30 national rankings in six disciplines: Neurology/neurosurgery as well as pediatric urology each ranked 20th, followed by orthopedics (22nd), Neonatology (24th), diabetes/endocrinology (27th) and nephrology (tied for 27th).

“Cohen Children’s Medical Center is consistently recognized for its excellent care in a number of specialties, but one heartening aspect that brings a smile to me is the warm reception each family receives during their stay,” said Michael Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell Health. “It’s extremely stressful and scary any time a child needs to be hospitalized. Our team delivers top-flight clinical care and they provide a reassuring and safe space for our young patients and their families to heal.”

Not only did Cohen Children’s rank No. 2 in New York State, but also sixth in the mid-Atlantic region, which includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
