Northern Tool + Equipment Celebrates Students in the Trades with $115,000 Donation in Tools to Minnesota Schools

The Company’s Tools for the Trades program aims to encourage and empower trade students by preparing them with the right gear

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Northern Tool + Equipment, a leading supplier of high-quality tools and equipment, is celebrating its 40th anniversary by taking its Tools for the Trades program to several high schools across its home state of Minnesota, donating a total of $115,000 in tools and equipment to career and technical education programs.

The Tools for the Trades program works to encourage and empower students to pursue a career in the skilled trades by making donations of professional-grade tools and equipment to schools. The effort is crucial: according to a recent Deloitte report, the manufacturing skills gap may leave an estimated 2.4 million positions unfilled between 2018 and 2028, with a potential economic impact of $2.5 trillion.

“Northern Tool is committed to preparing America’s future skilled trades workforce by supporting career and technical education classrooms with the best tools, whether they’re in welding, construction, auto mechanics, or other technical programs,” said Suresh Krishna, CEO of Northern Tool + Equipment. “Trades instructors need quality tools to help lead their classes to prepare the future skilled trades workers, and we hope our company’s donations will help to improve the in-class experience and give the students hands-on experience working with professional-grade equipment.”

Northern Tool marked its 40th anniversary by recently presenting tool donations at high schools in its home state, including Rogers High School, Forest Lake Area High School, White Bear Lake High School, Woodbury High School, Minnetonka High School and Burnsville High School. The company has plans to roll out its Tools for the Trades program across the country to offer its support to students and trades instructors.

Northern Tool’s Tools for the Trades program also supports the Texas High School Welding Series, which bolsters high school welding programs across Texas through competitions that help teenage welders gain welding certifications and scholarships.
