Freedom Transit and Modeshift Partner to Increase Passenger and Employee Usability and Accessibility with Comprehensive Mobile Ticketing Application

Online Fare Purchases, Validation, and Trip Planning Will Improve Flexibility and Customization of Public Transit to Better Serve Washington County.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa.--()--Modeshift, a leading contactless fare collection system provider, announced today a partnership with Freedom Transit, which services Washington County (South of Pittsburgh), to launch a new, extensive mobile application and online system, which will include numerous benefits for commuters, riders, and transit workers.

Modeshift will plan, design, and implement a new mobile application and online system, which will increase passenger convenience, access to travel information, flexibility and customization of fare products, measurements, and adoption of mobile ticketing.

  • Mobile Ticketing: Riders can easily plan their trip and purchase fares with the application.
  • Electronic Collection: Transit workers can automatically collect fares with on-board, electronic validation.
  • POS Locations: Users can purchase smart cards and load fare products on accounts, many of which will be Modeshift-produced.
  • CAD/AVL System: Transit employees can better schedule and dispatch vehicle locations to ensure on-time performance.
  • Web Portal: Travelers can also access many of the above benefits online, streamline trip planning and fare purchases.
