Top national construction manager taps Phoenix-based industry veteran to lead Southwest growth

TEMPE, Ariz.--()--Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national construction management firm, general contractor and Engineering News-Record Top 100 Contractor, has welcomed Robert Cortazzo as Southwest division president.

Cortazzo will leverage more than 30 years of construction industry experience in a variety of executive leadership roles to provide operational and fiscal management for AP’s Southwest region, including client relations, growth, safety, quality and team member development.

Before coming to AP, Cortazzo worked in various sales and operations leadership roles, including Division Manager, VP of Business Development and Senior Executive of Construction Operations. During his tenure at various companies like Tutor Perini Building Corp., Martin Harris Construction, Skanska and Turner Construction, he led high-profile, large-scale projects in Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas and Chicago.

Cortazzo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and is a graduate of the FMI Leadership Institute. He’s been affiliated with the Advisory Council for the NAU and ASU School of Construction Management, the Executive Advisory Council for the ASU School of Construction Management and several other local organizations.

AP has maintained a Phoenix office for 30 years and recently established a new Southwest regional leadership team, including Vice President of Operations Scott Salyer, Directors of Business Development Melissa Bennett and Mark Mitchell, Project Executive Michael Smith and Marketing Director Amara Boesch. Since then, AP Southwest has won, started and completed many new industrial, healthcare and K-12 education projects for clients such as Honeywell, Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals, United Surgical Partners Inc., Candeo Schools, Riverside Elementary School District No. 2, Higley Unified School District, Douglas Unified School District and the Leona Group.
