As Holidays Approach, ResCare Community Living Donates $400,000 to Local Food Banks Across the Country

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To help address hunger and food insecurity this holiday season, ResCare Community Living is donating $400,000 to local food banks in the communities it serves. 80 food banks in 27 different states will be receiving donations. ResCare employees will also be conducting food drives and volunteering onsite at their local food banks to help distribute meals and other food items to individuals and families in need.

As communities across the United States continue to experience challenges related to rising food costs, supply chain issues and unemployment, food banks have become even more of a necessity. More than 38 million people nationwide, including 12 million children, face food insecurity, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“At ResCare Community Living, we are committed to making a positive impact in our communities and helping our clients lead healthy, meaningful lives,” said Bob Barnes, ResCare Community Living President. “In this season of giving, we wanted to further our commitment to the communities we serve by partnering with local food banks that are also working to improve quality of life. We hope these donations will go a long way in assisting more of our neighbors in need this holiday season.”

ResCare Community Living has been providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities (IDD) for the past 40 years and today has 82 operations nationwide.

Donations will go to food banks in: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
