Votive Health and C-TAC Announce The ACT Index: a Joint Benchmarking System to Improve the Care of Those with Serious Illness

Customized data analysis and benchmarking will give payers and healthcare providers tools to improve care for serious illness

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.--()--Votive Health, an innovator at delivering complex care at home, today announced it will be assuming data entry and management of the Advanced Care Transformation (ACT) IndexSM from the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC), a coalition representing more than 170 national and regional organizations dedicated to ensuring that Americans with serious illness receive care consistent with their needs. Votive Health will make the ACT Index available for data analysis and benchmarking for either state-by-state or custom evaluation of care for serious illness.

Votive Health partners with health plans and providers to identify opportunities to expand evidence-based, cost-effective complex care, and designs networks and establishes value-based agreements to serve people living with serious illnesses and their caregivers.

Together with C-TAC, Votive Health has redesigned the ACT Index measures to capture and assess the data most relevant to the healthcare organizations responsible for the delivery and improvement of care for serious illness. This collaboration builds on the organizations’ shared vision to deliver quality healthcare and improve the lives of seriously ill patients and their caregivers.

A lot of organizations come to C-TAC hungry to improve their offerings, seeking to learn how they are meeting needs and transforming care compared to other entities and other states,” said Torrie Fields, Founder and CEO of Votive Health. “We are committed to supporting C-TAC in producing these benchmarks and keeping them up to date in order to measure the overall experience of care for people with serious illness and their caregivers. Through the development of these benchmarks, we will help hold the system accountable to the needs of those we serve and support C-TAC in its policy agenda while advocating for the right quality measures across the country.”

The ACT IndexSM allows policymakers, regulators, healthcare providers, communities, and consumers to assess the overall performance of serious illness care on a state basis through measured change over time. This has been invaluable to states seeking to develop new programs and benefits for those with serious illness. Not only do the ACT Index benchmarks allow for tracked performance and an increased understanding of the care experience being provided, but they also identify gaps where care providers have the opportunity to work toward changes and improvements. Access to the state-based data is at no cost to C-TAC members and state coalitions, and additional customized analysis is available through business partnerships with Votive Health.

During last year’s C-TAC National Summit on Advanced Illness Care, Votive Health made a commitment to develop a measurement framework in which C-TAC and its members will be able to analyze the overall experience of care with the goal of improving the quality of life for people with serious illness. As a part of this commitment, C-TAC and Votive Health announced a public-private partnership to support the reporting on the public-facing information and aggregation of data to create a powerful index for advanced care performance.

Through this commitment, Votive Health supports the ACT Index analytic component as the independent evaluator, delivering to the coalition of multiple stakeholders a comprehensive scorecard that they can measure against to better understand their current standing, utilization, and place in improving the lives of those with serious illness,” said Jon Broyles, CEO of Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC). “Votive Health is in the business of connecting and streamlining health plans and providers through network analysis, information technology, and capacity management, making them the perfect fit for this undertaking. We are grateful for Votive Health’s commitment as we partner to improve the overall experience of care.”

Votive Health seeks to alleviate suffering by facilitating payer-provider integration through value-based arrangements that eliminate unnecessary and unwanted services, reducing patient suffering, sustainably reimbursing providers, and reducing the total cost of care by keeping people with serious illness at home.
