Known worldwide, the AIA was established more than 160 years ago in New York and today boasts more than 88,000 members across the globe. The AIA’s goal is to consistently work to create more valuable, healthy, secure, and sustainable buildings, neighborhoods, and communities. Through more than 200 international, state, and local chapters, the AIA advocates for public policies that promote economic vitality and public wellbeing, and is considered by many as the preeminent professional organization for architects.
