Pacific Life Foundation Awards $75,000 in College Scholarships During Life Insurance Awareness Month

Five $15,000 Scholarships Given to Students Who Lost a Parent Without Life Insurance

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Pacific Life Foundation (the Foundation) has awarded five $15,000 college scholarships through Life Happens (www.LifeHappens.org) and its annual Life Lessons Scholarship Program to aid the financial burden of students who have lost a parent without life insurance. The scholarships are part of September’s Life Insurance Awareness Month, designed to help educate individuals on the importance and benefits of life insurance. Scholarships were awarded to students in communities where Pacific Life employees live and work. Recipients include Hannah Price, Rachel Hood, and Katherine Blas from California; Rainna Daharsh from Nebraska; and Heather Perry from Virginia.

“The death of a parent is unthinkable for children and young adults, as are the responsibilities and emotional turbulence that accompany that loss. Inevitably, families also experience financial hardship when a parent passes away,” said Tennyson Oyler, president of the Pacific Life Foundation. “As an organization, we are deeply connected to this program as it showcases the importance and impact of having life insurance protection. We are proud to provide these scholarships and hope they will help these students continue to persevere.”

Since 2018, the Foundation has provided $285,000 in college scholarships through Life Happens. This year, more than 300 Pacific Life employees volunteered to review hundreds of scholarship applications.
