Publix Named as One of Forbes’ Best-in-State Employers

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the third year in a row, Publix is recognized on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers by State, this year ranking No. 4 in South Carolina and No. 7 in Alabama. The company also ranked No. 31 in Florida, No. 27 in Georgia, No. 58 in North Carolina and No. 37 in Tennessee.

“Since our founding in 1930, we’ve built a culture of mutual respect for our fellow associates,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous. “Our associates live and reinforce that culture every day, and they continue to make Publix a great place to work. We’re honored to be recognized by them — and by respondents from other companies — as a best-in-state employer.”

Ranking on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers by State is determined by an independent survey of more than 80,000 U.S. employees from 25 industry sectors, including Publix associates and other employees in the company’s industry. The survey includes questions about working conditions, salary, potential for growth and diversity. Companies must have at least 500 employees in the state in which they are ranked and may place in more than one state.

Publix, the largest employee-owned company in the U.S. with more than 225,000 associates, currently operates 1,279 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. For 24 consecutive years, the company has been recognized by Fortune as a great place to work. In addition, Publix’s dedication to superior quality and customer service is recognized among the top in the grocery business.
