Santander Holdings USA, Inc. Names Ashwani Aggarwal as Chief Risk Officer

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Santander Holdings USA (“SHUSA” and “Santander”) today announced that Ashwani Aggarwal has been named Chief Risk Officer, effective today, August 24, 2021. Aggarwal will report to Santander US CEO Tim Wennes. Ashwani joined Santander in 2019, and most recently served as Head of Risk Analytics & Chief Model Risk Officer.

In his new role, Aggarwal will oversee and provide strategic direction for the risk management and compliance programs at SHUSA and the Santander US businesses. He and his team will work closely with our business leaders as we seek an appropriate balance between risk and business needs, and to operate Santander US in a safe and sound manner.

Ashwani has nearly 20 years of risk management experience. Prior to joining Santander, he was the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Model Risk Governance & Review at JPMorgan Chase. He also held leadership positions in the risk organizations at GE Capital, and Standard & Poor’s.

Aggarwal earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from National Institute of Technology Rourkela, his M.S. in computational mechanics from Lamar University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
