Scale Computing Announces Publication of “The Gorilla Guide™ to Enabling IT at the Edge”

INDIANAPOLIS--()--Scale Computing, a market leader in edge computing, virtualization, and hyperconverged solutions, today announced the release of its new eBook, The Gorilla Guide (Express Edition) to Enabling IT at the Edge that aims to help readers capitalize on the burgeoning edge computing need and opportunity. Authored by veteran technology journalist Alan Earls with contributions from members of the Scale Computing team, this new resource will help readers understand the fundamental principles of edge computing, enumerate the key requirements for a successful edge deployment, and provide practical guidance as to how to get started. It can be downloaded here.

“The edge represents a new frontier for IT organizations that, in order to support the evolving needs of the business, must move compute, network, and storage resources closer to where data is being generated and consumed,” said Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder, Scale Computing. “Just as cloud computing has been a disruptive force for the past two decades, the next wave of innovation is being enabled by edge computing. For any IT leader intent on harnessing the power of the edge, this guide will serve as both a valuable primer on the subject as well as a hands-on roadmap to reference along their journey.”

The Gorilla Guide to Enabling IT at the Edge is organized into three chapters: the first chapter provides an overview of Edge Computing, demonstrating through real-world use cases how businesses across a range of industries are applying edge technologies to streamline their operational efficiency and drive innovation. Chapter two itemizes the five most important business and technical requirements for a successful edge deployment, highlighting practical considerations and constraints, such as the physical environment needed to support edge computing as well as new methodologies such as Zero-Touch provisioning that can dramatically improve its consistent application. The third chapter focuses on the spectrum of edge topologies, recognizing that the broad adoption of hybrid resources -- from regional data centers to embedded computing devices -- will impact the implementation of an edge deployment.

“The Gorilla Guide series was designed to unravel complex technical concepts and make them comprehensible to both a technical and business audience and this new edition continues in this tradition,” said James Green, Executive Editor of ActualTech Media. “Edge computing continues to be one of the hottest trends driving the IT agenda and Scale Computing, as one of the early pioneers in this space, is the perfect emissary to deliver this type of resource.”
