Social Entrepreneurs Leading Growth-Stage Nonprofits Turn to Raise for Good’s Brand, Fundraising and Leadership Bootcamp

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Today, Raise for Good placed a call for applications to its 2021 Spring Bootcamp, an 8-week program for growth-stage nonprofit leaders, with a focus on women and people of color, designed to close opportunity gaps in resources, community and skills, and accelerate growth.

2020’s converging crises of the COVID-19 pandemic left nonprofits with a need to quickly adapt their programs, business models, and fundraising strategies to meet the urgent needs of students, employees, and the communities they serve - often vulnerable populations. In addition, we also saw a new wave of support, trust, and capital into nonprofits working within Black and Brown communities. This change was not only felt among the nonprofits themselves, but as a larger seismic shift within institutional philanthropy.

“Early into the pandemic, we could see and understand the devastating impact that this crisis could have on nonprofits, and recognized our unique position at Raise for Good as a bridge between funders and nonprofits to be part of the solution. We designed our Bootcamp program to meet the current pain points of organizations and help accelerate their growth and path to financial sustainability -- a program that will long outlast this crisis,” said Raise for Good CEO and Founder Maria Choi. “Above all, we’re creating a space designed to advance and support women and people of color on their journey to create the tomorrow we all know is possible.”

“Our bootcamps provide a platform for nonprofit leaders to share ideas, navigate leading through COVID-19, and bridge the gap between growth stage nonprofit capacity needs, being responsive to the urgent and pressing needs of the communities they serve, and building back for the future” said Robin Cho, Programs & Community Lead for Raise for Good.

Support for the Fall 2020 Bootcamp came from two corporate partners - leading skincare brand Rodan + Fields and cloud content management and file sharing service, Box. The support from, Box’s philanthropic arm, and Rodan + Fields enabled local Bay Area nonprofits to join the cohort to gain valuable skills and resources to carry out their programs amidst a challenging year. Both partners invested in the Bootcamp program as part of their existing social impact missions: to empower underserved youth, create diverse tech pipelines, enable digital transformation, and ‘be a good neighbor’ supporting organizations and causes in the communities in which they work.

Program topics center on three areas: brand positioning, nonprofit fundraising, leadership, and organizational and financial sustainability. Additionally, bootcamp participants are offered pitch practice sessions, mentor/advisor office hours, and a variety of workshops and community learning sessions such as “Authentic Fundraising,” “Improving Leadership Skills with Improv,” and “Transformative Leadership.”

Raise for Good’s Fall 2020 Bootcamp cohort included:
