Ground-Breaking: First Study of Challenges Faced by Ontario PSWs, Nurses, Custodians During Pandemic Released Today

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A major new peer-reviewed academic study that delves into the challenges faced by front-line Ontario health care staff working under crisis conditions during the early months of the pandemic, will be released on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 10 a.m.

The researchers chronicled (in real time) how front-line workers coped in health care settings as COVID-19 unfolded. The study also makes key recommendations on what we must do differently as Ontario’s under-resourced health system faces the COVID-19 second wave.

The study’s principal authors Dr. Jim Brophy and Dr. Margaret Keith will be joined by co-author Michael Hurley, the president of Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU/CUPE) for Tuesday’s release via a ZOOM media conference.

Brophy and Keith, who are affiliated with the University of Windsor, have previously published two studies on violence in Ontario’s hospitals (2017) and long-term care homes (2019).
