Ossia to Release Next-Generation Cota® 2.4 GHz Platform

Ossia’s patented, FCC approved wireless power technology is now available with the next-generation 2.4 GHz platform to license and build product

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ossia Inc. (“Ossia”) announced today that it will release an enhanced capability wireless power platform, Cota® 2.4 GHz, which has recently been approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), for installations in commercial, industrial, and residential environments powering receivers at distances of up to one meter.

Due to the Cota technology’s unique ability to transfer power in a manner that inherently avoids objects and humans, the Cota system is currently the only system of its kind to have achieved FCC regulatory authorization, meeting exposure standards with people in the wireless power transfer area.

Cota Wireless Power is power delivered over air, without cables, charging pads, or line of sight. The new Cota 2.4 GHz wireless power platform provides several important advantages compared to earlier systems, including more cost effective design, improved manufacturability, higher transmitter efficiency, lower power consumption, thinner form factor and reduced weight.

“We are excited to bring the new 2.4 GHz platform to market,” said Hatem Zeine, Founder and President of Ossia. “This new system will enable cost effective development and higher performance that will enable more Cota products to be launched and sold.”

This newly updated Cota 2.4 GHz wireless power platform supports:

  • Cota Receivers with ambient power harvesting capability that enables a cold start operation (also called wake from dead)
  • Cota Receiver designs supporting a fully battery-less device operation for low-powered IoT devices
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) to reduce installation costs and time, as well as adding communication options

Cota Wireless Power can deliver power to many devices at the same time, around corners, even while in motion. Cota receivers can be integrated into all types of small devices, including IoT, wearables, smartphones, medical devices, retail, industrial, and more. The Cota transmitter is ideally suited for a variety of applications from commercial buildings and personal homes to cars, trucks, planes, and trains.

The next-generation 2.4 GHz platform has been FCC approved and available to license today.
