Samaritan Marks 40th Anniversary Milestone with Top Patient Satisfaction Award, Expanded Services and Refreshed Brand

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J.--()--“Samaritan,” formerly Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, has been rebranded, offering the not-for-profit organization an opportunity to better illuminate its proud legacy of service and communicate its expanded services.

Founded in 1980, Samaritan serves more than 11,000 people each year in South and Central New Jersey, providing hospice care, palliative medicine and other essential healthcare services to improve quality of life for patients and their loved ones. Samaritan is a proud recipient of an SHPBest Superior Performer patient satisfaction award for 2019 by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP), an independent firm that analyzes Samaritan’s data and compares it to national and state scores

Samaritan is proud to announce an expanded Palliative Medical Partners program, a medical specialty practice started in 2009 by Stephen Goldfine, MD, Chief Medical Officer, to provide supportive care at any stage of serious illness to relieve pain or symptoms and help patients express their goals of care. The program that originated in hospitals and out-patient locations and is now a community-based model, with physicians and nurse practitioners visiting patients in their homes and utilizing telemedicine to extend their patient interaction and reach.

Reinforcing the organization’s commitment to providing more care options at home, Samaritan has launched Samaritan HomeVisit Physicians, under the leadership of Kenneth Giacobbo, DO. The services include traditional primary care, examinations, testing and diagnostics, chronic care coordination and medication management, all in the privacy of a patient’s home.

Samaritan opened a new administrative headquarters in Mount Laurel, offering a home base for more than 400 clinical providers and administrative employees and a support system of more than 500 volunteers. The Center for Grief Support is also located there.

“Healthcare organizations must be innovative in their approach to deliver customized and localized services and we have done that by responding to the needs of our patients and their families through pivoting to diversify and add critically important new care offerings,” said Mary Ann Boccolini, President and CEO of Samaritan. “The more we can do, the greater the impact we will have in enhancing the quality of life and well-being of those we serve.”
