Pinnacle Is One of the Country’s Top 5 Workplaces for Millennials

Firm’s rank rises to No. 4 nationwide in FORTUNE magazine list

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pinnacle Financial Partners is among the top five companies in the country for millennials to work. The firm climbed to the No. 4 spot on the list of Best Workplaces for Millennials from FORTUNE magazine and Great Place to Work®, rising from No. 12 on the same list in 2019. In February, both groups named Pinnacle the overall No. 14 Best Company to Work For in the United States.

“Pinnacle aims to be the best place to work in the Southeast, and that means for everyone,” said Terry Turner, Pinnacle’s president and CEO. “Our culture is appealing to people of all ages. I believe our core values of fairness, partnership and balance are particularly attractive to Millennials as they start to reach middle age and build families. By this point, many of them have built successful careers. They are the next generation of corporate leaders and could have their pick of places to work. Pinnacle gives them the freedom, flexibility and respect they’ve earned.”

Rankings for this list reflect feedback representing more than 4.9 million employees at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations. Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on employees’ feedback and reward companies who best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.

Companies on the list of Best Workplaces for Millennials stand out for their unique, innovative cultures, which helps them attract and retain associates. Even with a hiring philosophy that seeks out seasoned professionals with at least 10 years of experience for most roles, a quarter of Pinnacle’s associates are 40 years old or under. With an average retention rate above 91 percent – unheard of in the financial services industry – they are more likely to stay and build their careers at Pinnacle.

“For many years, organizations have put forth considerable effort towards attracting and retaining millennial talent,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The Best Workplaces on this list have created cultures where its youngest employees experience not only an environment where they can grow professionally and personally, but also find a deeper sense of purpose in their work. As we prepare for a large influx of young professionals from Generation Z to enter the work force for the first time, these organizations have distinguished themselves as the leaders in attracting and developing the leaders of tomorrow.”

Best Workplaces for Millennials is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations. Pinnacle regularly ranks on several of them and earlier this year was named the No. 4 Best Workplace in Financial Services and Insurance. In 2019, the firm earned honors for being a Best Workplace for Parents (No. 41).

Pinnacle Financial Partners provides a full range of banking, investment, trust, mortgage and insurance products and services designed for businesses and their owners and individuals interested in a comprehensive relationship with their financial institution. The firm is the No. 1 bank in the Nashville-Murfreesboro-Franklin MSA, according to 2019 deposit data from the FDIC. Pinnacle earned a spot on 2020 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For® in the U.S., its fourth consecutive appearance. American Banker recognized Pinnacle as one of America’s Best Banks to Work For seven years in a row.

Pinnacle owns a 49 percent interest in Bankers Healthcare Group (BHG), which provides innovative, hassle-free financial solutions to healthcare practitioners and other licensed professionals. Great Place to Work and FORTUNE ranked BHG No. 1 on its 2020 list of Best Workplaces in New York State in the small/medium business category.

The firm began operations in a single location in downtown Nashville, TN in October 2000 and has since grown to approximately $33.3 billion in assets as of June 30, 2020. As the second-largest bank holding company headquartered in Tennessee, Pinnacle operates in 12 primarily urban markets in Tennessee, the Carolinas, Virginia and Atlanta.
