Zuora Launches the Subscribed Strategy Group

The SSG provides customers with strategic guidance on the development and execution of business strategies to win in the Subscription Economy

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zuora, Inc., (NYSE:ZUO) the leading cloud-based subscription management platform provider, today announced the launch of the Subscribed Strategy Group (SSG), a new initiative by its think-tank, the Subscribed Institute.

For the last decade, the Zuora® brand has been synonymous with The Subscription Economy®. The success of this global business model shift to subscriptions has largely been driven by our customers who are responding to changing consumer preferences which value access to convenient services over the ownership of products. According to the latest edition of our Subscription Economy Index™ (SEI), subscription businesses have grown substantially faster than two key public benchmarks—S&P 500 Sales and U.S. retail sales.

“Companies around the world are now waking up to the resiliency of the subscription model to weather economic uncertainty. Now more than ever, companies need to shift to subscriptions to thrive,” said Amy Konary, VP of Business Innovation and Chair of the Subscribed Institute at Zuora. “But success in the Subscription Economy requires strategy, cultural, process, and systems transformation. Zuora's best-in-class technology addresses the system needs of our customers, and now the SSG will provide the strategic guidance companies need to navigate the ongoing complexities of running a subscription business.”

Zuora launched the Subscribed Institute in 2018 as a dedicated think-tank focused on the challenges and opportunities of the Subscription Economy. With nearly a thousand executive members from more than 500 subscription companies, the Institute generates original research including frameworks and benchmarks based on Zuora’s unique database of subscription businesses. The research is shared with members regularly through in-person and virtual events and digital outreach.

The Subscribed Strategy Group was created to work directly with individual companies and help them apply the learnings gleaned from the Institute’s research to their specific business needs. The SSG works one-on-one with executives from our customer organizations to chart a strategic path towards subscription success by identifying and removing business obstacles, building internal alignment, and establishing routes to success. Best practices gleaned from our work with over a thousand subscription companies around the world will help our customers make critical business decisions, adopt new strategies, and measure their success at regular intervals.

The leadership team of the SSG brings together some of the most experienced Subscription Economy executives: Amy Konary, Chair of the Subscribed Institute, is the global lead supported by Frank Ernst, VP of Strategy, SSG in North America, and Michael Mansard, Principal, Business Transformation in Europe & EMEA Chair of the Subscribed Institute. The team has a combined experience of over 60 years working with the software technology, media, and manufacturing sectors. The SSG will also work closely with management consulting firms and global systems integrators to support joint customers on their journey to success in the Subscription Economy.

“As the indisputable leader of the Subscription Economy, Zuora has the privilege of working with some of the most innovative companies in the world, as well as some of the most successful subscription companies today. We synthesize first-hand knowledge of best practices along with our Subscription Economy data to develop action-oriented guidance and advice. I couldn’t be more excited to build a team of experts who can share this directly with our customers and contribute to their success in non-technology related ways,” said Konary.
