Museum of American Finance and NYC Department of Records and Information Services to Open Exhibit on the History of New York City’s Water

“Ebb & Flow” will be on view from March 5-Sept 1 at 31 Chambers Street, NYC

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On March 5, the Museum of American Finance and the New York City Department of Records and Information Services will open a new exhibit, “Ebb & Flow: Tapping into the History of New York City’s Water.”

New York City is famous for having clean, great-tasting drinking water. Approximately 7,000 miles of water mains, tunnels and aqueducts use gravity to bring water to the five boroughs from a watershed that extends more than 125 miles and comprises 19 reservoirs and three lakes.

“Ebb & Flow” explores the more than 200-year history of the city’s efforts to build one of the world’s finest water supply systems. The exhibit includes the fascinating story of how a private water company, founded by Aaron Burr in 1799, evolved into the largest bank in the United States today.

OPENING EVENT

Join us on opening night, March 5, 2020, for a special live recording of Person Place Thing with Emmy Award winner Randy Cohen and musician/actress Rachel Stern.
