Trinity HealthShare Resolves Dispute with Colorado Division of Insurance

ATLANTA--()--The Colorado Division of Insurance has entered a final agency order reflecting the stipulation between Trinity HealthShare and the division to resolve the allegations made against Trinity in an August 2019 ex parte cease and desist order.

As a result of the order, Trinity will not accept contributions from Colorado residents and process sharing requests from its Colorado members for any services rendered after January 31, 2020. Trinity will, however, continue to process sharing requests from Colorado members for services rendered through January 31, 2020.

“The vast majority of Trinity’s members, both in Colorado and around the country, are very satisfied with our health care sharing ministry and continue to choose us because it’s a cost-effective medical payment arrangement,” said Joe Guarino, president of Trinity HealthShare.

Trinity was prepared to defend its compliance with Colorado law, but once the ministry requested a hearing to do so, the Division of Insurance offered to discuss a settlement. This outcome resolves the dispute without spending valuable member resources on litigation.

Trinity agreed to the final agency order without admitting any wrongdoing or noncompliance with Colorado law. As a result, Trinity will unfortunately stop offering its health care sharing programs to Colorado residents at the end of January 2020. Meanwhile, Trinity remains committed to its members and will continue to facilitate sharing among members in other states.
