Assurant Named a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality for Second Consecutive Year

Earns 100 percent score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual index assessing LGBTQ workplace equality

NEW YORK--()--Assurant, Inc., (NYSE: AIZ), a leading global provider of housing and lifestyle solutions that support, protect and connect major consumer purchases, announced that, for the second consecutive year, it received a score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality.

The index is administered annually by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer people. Assurant’s efforts in satisfying all of CEI’s criteria earned a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

“As a global company, we strive to support and reflect the diversity of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives that so greatly enrich our culture and help drive our performance,” said Alan Colberg, president and CEO of Assurant. “We are grateful to the HRC Foundation for their research and insights shared with all of the companies that participate. Earning the distinction as a best place to work for LGBTQ equality reinforces our commitment to foster diverse, inclusive and safe spaces where our employees feel respected and valued.”

The CEI rates companies and top law firms on detailed criteria falling under five broad categories, including: 1) Non-discrimination policies; 2) Employment benefits; 3) Demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBTQ diversity and inclusion; 4) Public commitment to LGBTQ equality; and 5) Responsible citizenship.
