Commonwealth Care Alliance® Adds Jonathan Gordon as Senior Vice President of Innovation and Managing Director of Winter Street Ventures

Gordon’s 20 years of experience in healthcare, startups and investing further elevate CCA’s innovation capabilities and venture affiliate

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Commonwealth Care Alliance® (CCA), a nationally recognized not-for-profit community-based healthcare organization focused on care and coordination for high-cost, high-needs individuals, today announced the addition of Jonathan Gordon as Senior Vice President of Innovation for CCA and Managing Director of Winter Street Ventures, CCA’s healthcare innovation accelerator and venture investment affiliate. In these roles, Jon will lead CCA’s investment and innovation teams, leveraging and deploying capital into new approaches, products and technologies to enhance care coordination and delivery for our members, as well as identifying and supporting internal CCA innovations that can be scaled into services and businesses that will serve new customers and markets.

Prior to joining CCA and Winter Street Ventures, Gordon launched NYP Ventures, the strategic venture capital arm of New York-Presbyterian (NYP) Hospital. At NYP Ventures, Gordon made investments in leading digital health start-ups, built strategic partnerships with companies such as Walgreens and Zocdoc, and managed NYP’s intellectual property portfolio. An entrepreneur himself, Gordon previously was co-founder, President & COO of EveryDay Medical, an e-commerce-based provider of durable medical equipment.

“Few people in the healthcare world can match both Jon’s instinct for recognizing startups with the potential to reshape care and expertise to guide those companies to market,” said Christopher D. Palmieri, President & CEO of Commonwealth Care Alliance. “Jon’s insight into how breakthrough technologies will shape the future of patient care and coordination will be a tremendous asset as CCA continues to lead the way in transforming the nation's healthcare for individuals with the most significant needs. His experience as both a venture investor and entrepreneur will elevate the role of Winter Street Ventures, helping us attract, foster, and bring to scale innovations that fulfill our mission.”

“I am thrilled to join an organization that actively seeks to leverage innovation to meet complex healthcare needs and improve the care delivery model,” said Gordon. “Winter Street Ventures’ unparalleled access to care settings, combined with CCA’s nearly 34,000 members and broad care provider network, will enable us to make meaningful advances for the members we serve.”

Gordon is currently a faculty member of Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. He was previously on the faculty of Weill Cornell Medicine and is a recipient of their Teaching Excellence award. Gordon also serves on the board of Costs of Care, an organization dedicated to improving patient affordability. Gordon holds a BA cum laude from Princeton University and an MBA with honors from Columbia Business School.
