The Boston Globe Names InkHouse a Top Place to Work for 2019

Magazine honors the best employers in Massachusetts

WALTHAM, Mass.--()--InkHouse has been named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts in the 12th annual employee-based survey project from The Boston Globe.

Top Places to Work recognizes the most admired workplaces in the state voted on by the people who know them best—their employees. The survey measures employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement.

InkHouse, an integrated public relations agency for innovative thinkers, creators and leaders who believe in the power of stories to effect positive change, is one of the fastest-growing agencies in the country with three offices and nearly 130 employees nationwide. Its award-winning programs focus on constant innovation and what's next in storytelling for PR and marketing, offering integrated communications campaigns for media, content, social media, design, filmmaking and paid editorial all in one place.

We believe that what’s good for people is good for business,” said Beth Monaghan, chief executive officer and co-founder of InkHouse. “We are focused on creating the workplace for the next generation, and the kind of connected communities for our clients and ourselves that will move the world forward. Our team is honored to be recognized by the Boston Globe as a Top Place to Work in Massachusetts this year.”

The companies that make our list are much more than just decent employers," said Katie Johnston, the Globe’s Top Places to Work editor. "They make work fun, and they make their people feel cared for. Some of them even help employees realize dreams that have nothing to do with their jobs.”

To help disconnect from the frenetic day-to-day pace, InkHouse offers unlimited vacation time, work-from-home Fridays to focus on writing projects, and bans email outside the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. This year InkHouse also announced a new parental leave policy, extending parental leave to 16 weeks for moms/primary parents and six weeks for dads/co-parents, as well as a six-week paid sabbatical for employees who stay with the company for 10 years.

This Boston Globe award recognition comes on the heels of InkHouse being named a 2019 Inc. Best Workplace and San Francisco Business Times’ Best Places to Work 2019 in its workplace wellness category.

The companies that make our list are much more than just decent employers," said Katie Johnston, the Globe’s Top Places to Work editor. "They make work fun, and they make their people feel cared for. Some of them even help employees realize dreams that have nothing to do with their jobs.”

The rankings in Top Places to Work are based on confidential survey information collected by Energage (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, from nearly 66,000 individuals at 323 Massachusetts organizations. The winners share a few key traits, including offering progressive benefits, giving their employees a voice, and encouraging them to have some fun while they’re at it.
