Wild Sky Media Launches Moms Want to Know Series for Marketers and Brands

First installment focuses on inspiring and supporting children’s interest in STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math

NEW YORK--()--Wild Sky Media, a top-five parenting media platform behind Mom.com, CafeMom, MamásLatinas and LittleThings, has announced the launch of Moms Want to Know, an article series for marketers and brands designed to shed light on the most pressing priorities for today’s latest generation of moms.

The series taps into a vast library of insights on all-things motherhood, shared by moms who trust and interact with Wild Sky Media’s content brands, supporting the company’s mission of helping families raise happy, kind and confident kids, while taking care of moms along the way. Planned content includes myriad opportunities for targeted media, and custom and branded content designed to address both moms’ needs and brand objectives.

For its debut installment, Moms Want to Know explores the pressing topic, “How Can I Inspire and Support My Kids’ Interest in STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.” It was inspired by a Wild Sky Media survey of more than a thousand moms, conducted in Summer 2019, which revealed feelings of uncertainty about how to ready kids for the STEAM-focused job opportunities of the future. Sixty percent of the respondents expressed they didn’t feel prepared to lead their children through a STEAM-focused education.

These findings add to a growing consensus of worrying data about STEAM. For example, sources such as ACT.org, Education Week and the Pew Research Center have stated:

  • Women make up 65% of the workforce but hold fewer than 25% of STEAM-based jobs
  • Few rural parents have heard of STEAM
  • Only 29% of urban parents and 22% of rural parents think their school emphasizes STEAM subjects
  • Black and Hispanic individuals make up 27% of the workforce, but only account for 16% of those employed in STEAM occupations
  • Only 2% of students who are racial/ethnic minorities, first generation college students and low-income are prepared enough to meet STEAM performance standards

By giving voice to the STEAM-related concerns of moms, amplifying them to marketers and brands, Wild Sky Media aims to elevate the conversation, inspiring deeper thinking about the issue and a greater diversity of solutions that will help moms help their families.

“At Wild Sky Media, we believe that the world’s greatest brands and marketers have the power to influence culture and thus drive real change, said Marisa Russell, Senior Vice President of Sales. “Through the Moms Want to Know series, we hope to inspire others to join us on our mission to empower children to be the greatest change makers and generation of global citizens. We get there by listening and supporting moms.”
