Montana Department of Revenue Website Earns Award

My Revenue honored for best practices, pushing boundaries

HELENA, Mont.--()--The award-winning State of Montana website, My Revenue, continues to impress by radically improving the experience of government and pushing the boundaries of how digital government services are delivered.

The Montana Department of Revenue’s (DOR) website recently earned a 2019 Government Experience award from the Center for Digital Government (CDG). Whether appealing a property tax appraisal, paying medical marijuana provider taxes or bidding on a liquor license, My Revenue’s modern, streamlined, responsive customer experience provides Montana’s citizens and businesses with the efficient and intuitive services they expect.

“Our team works hard to make it easier for Montanans to interact with the department, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished with My Revenue,” said Gene Walborn, director of the Montana Department of Revenue.

The website, app.mt.gov/myrevenue, delivers hundreds of forms to citizens with an easy-to-navigate interface. The project is a joint effort between the DOR and its partner Montana Interactive (MI) and provides multiple routes for citizens to access information to ensure users of all technical abilities can connect with state government effortlessly. The strategic concept extends beyond the front end: with My Revenue, the DOR can self-serve, creating its own forms and content, saving tens of thousands of dollars annually in development costs.

So far in 2019, citizens and businesses have submitted more than $360,000 in payments through the service. Payments surpassed $500,000 in 2018. Of the 140,000 users accessing the service in 2019, 14.6% used a mobile device – a testament to the service’s mobile responsiveness and user-friendly design.

My Revenue will be honored by the CDG on Sept. 27 in Denver and featured in Government Technology and other publications. For more information about the awards and the CDG, visit https://www.govtech.com/.

Earlier this year, the My Revenue project team earned a prestigious 2019 Service to the Citizen: Champions of Change Award that honors public servants of all levels for their leadership and dedication to delivering an outstanding experience to the public. The team includes the DOR’s Carol Schopfer, Bill Jarocki, Tarek Haffar, Patrick Miller, Matt Brotherton and Wendy Brown, and MI staff members, Megan Gretch, Spencer Jones and Josh Morasko.
