PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Zinc Recycling LLC (“AZR”) today issued an update on the repair and restart of its Rutherford County, North Carolina zinc refining facility owned by its subsidiary American Zinc Recycling Corp. (“AZR Corp.”). The rebuilding project is proceeding according to schedule and the restart is targeted for the first quarter of 2020. Staffing is underway, and when fully operational the plant is expected to produce 155,000 tons of Special High Grade (SHG) zinc metal annually.
AZR further reported that it will be repairing and replacing with state of the art equipment portions of AZR Corp.’s electric arc furnace (“EAF”) dust recycling facility in Calumet, Illinois, and that the company is actively pursuing other potential sites to enable it to expand its EAF dust recycling capability, which is the largest in the North America.
