BATON ROUGE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--eQHealth Solutions, a leader in population health management for commercial and government entities, today announced that Chris C.W. Kunis, M.D., the company’s Chief Medical Director of Florida Medicaid, was named Physician of the Year in Internal Medicine by the American Association of Physician Specialists (AAPS). The honor was presented during the President’s Award Dinner at the 2019 AAPS House of Delegates & Annual Scientific Meeting the evening of Saturday, June 22.
The Physician of the Year Award is presented by each Academy of Medicine to a member who has contributed to the growth, recognition and leadership of the Academy. One member is selected by his or her peers within an Academy to be honored each year.

Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Forensic medicine as a “Fellow of the College,” Forensic examiner, and in Health Care Quality Management and Utilization Review, Dr. Kunis has distinguished himself as a leader in healthcare. He is currently the senior physician executive responsible for the government operations in his role as Chief Medical Director of Florida Medicaid at eQHealth Solutions, as well as a Medical Director in Dunedin, Florida and a provider at MedExpress Urgent Care group.
Dr. Kunis holds certifications as a National Laboratory Director, Senior Disability Analyst and Diplomate, healthcare provider by the State of Florida’s Worker’s Compensation Commission, and the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare. He has also served more than 20 years as medical director for organizations throughout Florida, and has authored several medical papers in publications such as the Journal of Surgical Orthopedic Advances and The National Standards Institute.

Dr. Kunis was awarded his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University and completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Farleigh Dickinson University before performing his graduate research in experimental morphogenesis, where he was a member of the Sigma Xi Honorary Research Society.
