TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Canadian actor and director Jason Priestley, well-known for his role in hit TV series Beverly Hills 90210 and Private Eyes, launches the Moores Clothing for Men’s 10th Annual Suit Drive by making the first donation to the cause at the retailer’s downtown Vancouver store today before heading to its Toronto flagship location to do the same. The Drive will run nationally starting July 1 to 31, when consumers can donate gently-used professional clothing at Moores stores across the country.
“The Moores Suit Drive is all about giving people who may be down on their luck and seeking employment, a leg up with the right clothes,” said Priestley. “A polished look can boost your confidence and create a positive attitude. A simple gesture of donating a suit can help make a difference and change someone’s life for the better.”
Priestley, who hails from North Vancouver, B.C. will be travelling across the country in an effort to raise awareness of how donating a suit you used to wear can give disadvantaged men and women an opportunity to walk into a job interview with confidence—an essential step toward economic stability. His efforts also aim to show how gifting gently-worn professional clothing is one of the easiest things Canadians can do to make a difference in someone’s life this July.
Priestley stars in Private Eyes, a comedy drama currently airing its fourth season. He also appeared as Brandon Walsh in the popular series, Beverly Hills 90210, and is directing and starring in its ‘reboot,’ being released this summer. Priestley joins the roster of high-calibre champions of the Moores cause who have included Canadian celebrities such as star of Suits, Patrick J. Adams, as well as professional athletes.
In its 10th Anniversary this year, the Moores Suit Drive has collected close to half a million items of professional attire and helped to dress hundreds of thousands of Canadians in need for job interviews. Donations are distributed nationally to more than 60 local recipient organizations that help people regain employment through job readiness programs, workforce assistance and gifting of professional attire. Recipient organizations include: ROUTES (ON), Calgary Dream Centre (AB), Our Place Society (BC), Global Gathering Place (SK), Opportunities for Employment (MB), Old Brewery Mission (QC), and Teamwork Cooperative (NS), to name a few.
"The Moores Suit Drive has helped so many men and women put their best selves forward for job interviews—a time when we need to look and feel our best,” said Richard Bull, Vice President of Merchandising, Moores Clothing for Men. “I am proud to say I have been part of this campaign for 10 years now and have seen it become recognized as an important cause across Canada.”
Consumers can donate men's and women's suits, ties, jackets, shirts, pants, belts and shoes at 126 Moores locations nationally throughout the month of July. As a thank you, donors will receive 50 per cent off their next purchase of regular-priced items (with some exclusions).
Moores Suit Drive is Challenging Canadians to Donate via Social Media
#ThrowbackAndDonate: Throwback photos are a lot like your closet. They’re full of clothes you don’t wear anymore. The Moores Suit Drive is the perfect occasion to share those photos and donate that professional clothing for a good cause. That’s why, to help drive awareness of the Moores Suit Drive this year, @MooresClothing is encouraging followers to spread the word by using #ThrowbackAndDonate. To participate, Canadians can add #ThrowbackAndDonate #SuitDrive to a throwback post, then donate the clothes at a Moores store. Participants will receive 50 per cent off their next purchase and give someone the confidence to get their career back on track.
