CRANBURY, N.J.--()--The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), the leading multimedia peer-reviewed journal dedicated to issues in managed care, presents its most recent “Peer Exchange” panel discussion, “An Overview of the Value-Based Marketplace.” The video series features several experts who share their insights and provide a better understanding of the value-based marketplace (VBM).

“Often organizations fail at providing value within the company because of a lack of proper performance targets,” said Michael J. Hennessy Jr., president of MJH Associates, Inc., parent company of AJMC®. “During this informative video series on VBM, our panel of experts will come together to provide companies with better decision-making strategies to improve the value of their employees within their organization.”

This AJMC® “Peer Exchange” panel features four distinguished experts:

  • Michael Thompson, president and chief executive officer of the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, as moderator.
  • Dr. Andrew Crighton, chief medical officer of Prudential Financial Inc.
  • Patricia Haines, executive vice president and chief benefits officer for the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
  • Dr. Bruce Sherman, chief medical advisor for the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions.

The “Peer Exchange” series begins with a discussion on healthcare consumerism. The experts also provide an overview of evidence-based population health, including the issues and opportunities and some of the social determinants that affect health. Additional segments review the path of the supply chain, including the current state of the medical services supply chain, along with discussions of the prescription drug supply chain and how the growth in innovative and highly expensive specialty drugs affects VBM.
