Illinois American Water Investing Approximately $650,000 at Pontiac Water Treatment Plant

PONTIAC, Ill.--()--Illinois American Water is investing approximately $650,000 to enhance water service. The project includes a facelift to one of four water treatment tanks, rehabilitation of six filters and installation of a new generator. This work will enhance water service, water pressure and fire protection to Pontiac area customers.

Work on the water treatment tank, which was completed this spring, included an inspection and maintenance as well as painting to the interior and exterior. According to Corey Robinson, operations superintendent, this investment enhances reliability and longevity of the tank.

Additional work at the water treatment plant includes restoring six filters and installing a new generator. This work will begin this month and is expected to be completed this fall.

Robinson said, “At Illinois American Water, we plan for prudent, proactive investments to ensure our customers receive the best product possible. These investments will help us to deliver water service critical for daily use, but also for fire protection and public health.”

Water service will not be significantly affected by these water treatment system improvements. The quality of the water flowing to customers’ homes and businesses will not be affected and will continue to meet all federal and state water quality regulations.
