WEATHERFORD, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Retired U.S. Army Specialist Charlotte Ferris will receive the keys to her new home at a home dedication ceremony on Friday, April 19. A $10,000 Housing Assistance for Veterans (HAVEN) grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) provided funding for a home built by Operation FINALLY HOME, a nonprofit dedicated to providing American veterans with custom-built homes mortgage free.
The media is invited to the home dedication ceremony at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, April 19 at 1852 Town Creek Circle in Weatherford.
HAVEN is a unique grant program offered by FHLB Dallas, through its member institutions. The grants assist veterans and active-duty service members, who have been disabled in the line of duty since September 11, 2001 (9/11), with home repairs, modifications and new construction costs. Funds may also be awarded to Gold Star families, who have lost an immediate family member in service since 9/11. HAVEN provides grants up to $10,000 per household. To qualify, veterans must also meet income eligibility requirements.
