BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--()--CleanSlate Outpatient Addiction Medicine, a national leader in office-based opioid and alcohol use disorder treatment, today announced the appointment of Tracey Cohen, MD as Chief Clinical Officer as the company continues to expand to meet the growing demand for high quality, evidence-based addiction medicine.

Board certified in Family and Addiction Medicine, Cohen is widely recognized as a leader in health care integration, substance use disorder care, primary care, chronic pain, and safe, appropriate pharmacy utilization. Her high-impact initiatives in these areas have served as regional and national models. Prior to serving as CCO, Dr. Cohen spent seven years as a part-time physician at CleanSlate. She will operate out of CleanSlate’s New Bedford center in Massachusetts where she will continue to provide hands-on treatment to patients, in addition to her role as CCO.

“CleanSlate has grown significantly over the past few years to better serve patients across the country in need of high-quality addiction treatment, and we are constantly working to expand patient access to effective addiction medicine,” said Gregory Marotta, CleanSlate President and Chief Executive Officer. “Dr. Cohen will lead our clinical efforts to achieve our vision of transforming outpatient addiction medicine as we expand our integrated medical and behavioral health model in our centers to improve physical and behavioral health outcomes among people living with mental illnesses and addiction, as well as to lower the cost of care associated with this complex patient population. Her in-depth knowledge of community-based behavioral and addiction health care, coupled with her keen business savvy, will help position CleanSlate to continue being a leader in evidence-based addiction treatment and a strong partner in the communities that we serve.”

Dr. Cohen is a physician executive with more than 17 years of clinical and business experience leading health care organizations to relevant and sustained progress in quality and value. Prior to joining CleanSlate, she served as Medical Director of Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, named one of the top Medicaid health plans nationally and serving more than 200,000 members. There she managed behavioral health care and health care integration as she did in her prior role as Medical Director of Behavioral Health and Quality at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, 2013-2015. Cohen received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she was named a Twenty-First Century Scholar, and conducted her residency in Family Medicine at Brown University.

As CCO, Dr. Cohen will use both her clinical expertise and business acumen to oversee management of medical staff and guide and engage CleanSlate’s physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical staff. As the primary clinical voice for care model strategy and program development decisions, she will drive quality and promote clinical effectiveness, aligning care across the company and wielding influence throughout all service lines.

“I’m thrilled to join CleanSlate in its mission to provide superior access to high-quality, integrated addiction care. CleanSlate is unique in how we meet people where they are and support each individual’s path in recovery,” said Dr. Cohen. “As Chief Clinical Officer, I look forward to continuing the evolvement of our treatment model as one that empowers patients on their journey to improve wellness by providing evidence-based behavioral and medical care that supports the whole person and addresses all aspects of their addiction.”
